The Foundation for International Community Assistance (FINCA)

Founded in 1984, the Foundation for International Community Assistance (FlNCA) is a nonprofit, private voluntary organization exempt from income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Its mission is to support the social, economic, and personal development of families trapped in severe poverty. On total current lending of $5.4 million, FINCA's loan repayment rate is 97%. Its average loan per borrower is only $110, yet the accumulated savings of FINCA village bank members already exceed $2 million. At least 87 cents of every dollar FINCA receives is devoted to village banking activities in the field.
