In 2001, a study done in Montréal on the environmental impacts of households choosing to reside near the Metro, there were each year:
- 1050 fewer automobile trips;
- 15 000 fewer kilometers travelled by car;
- 6000 fewer kilograms of greenhouse gases;
- 625 more transit trips; and
- 425 more trips on foot or by bicycle.
