Welcome to another edition of GDRC Mosaic!
This month, GDRC Mosaic is being sent to
more than 3,000 subscribers in 130 countries worldwide.
THIS MONTH'S SPOTLIGHT: Urban Sanitation
from GDRC's Programme onUrban Environmental Management.
With more than half of humans choosing to live in cities, the
proper management of human excreta (including its safe and clean
confinement, treatment, disposal and associated hygiene-related
practices) becomes critical in improving the quality of life
in cities.
Of particular importance is to understand sustainable sanitation
within the larger perspective of urban environmental management,
including integrated waste management, safe/clean water
management, air quality management, etc.
These and related issues are covered in the Urban Sanitation and
Sustainability theme pages of GDRC's research programme on
Urban Environmental Management:

FOCUS ON GDRC: LESSONS IN LEARNING
Walk the talk, and talk the walk
The popular saying "Walk the Talk" is interpreted as an important
information design lesson for GDRC - of providing key information
(the "talk", which inspires users to take action on the ground
(the "walk").
And the corollary - to "Talk the Walk" is also interpreted as
an equally important lesson - in making sure that practical
information from the ground is provided along with theoretical
information, in order to provide a balanced view.
