-------------------------------------------------- G D R C M o s a i c www.gdrc.org May 2008 -------------------------------------------------- Welcome to another edition of GDRC's Mosaic! This month, GDRC Mosaic is being set to more than 2000 subscribers in 130 countries worldwide. -------------------------------------------------- THIS MONTH'S SPOTLIGHT: NGO Fund Raising Strategies, from GDRC's Programme on the NGO Cafe. As the programmes and projects of NGOs expand, the need for money to run their operations becomes all the more critical. Much of this comes from third party funding organizations, either in the country where the NGO operates, or from countries that assist projects in developing countries. This NGO Cafe feature was created to collate current thinking and resources on the topic. These are strategies for fund raising in general, and the Cafe itself does not disburse funds to NGOs. GDRC has been working on these and related issues. Resources on this topic are available at: http://www.gdrc.org/ngo/funding/fund-raising.html As with all sections of GDRC, contributions, comments and suggestions are always welcome from users and subscribers! How does the user use information and for what purposes? How do we deliver information to better suit the needs of the user? How do we facilitate the construction of knowledge in the user's mind? For this to happen, we need a Jack-of-all-Trades (i.e. a person who can understand and appreciate all the problems and issues involved - the big picture - with which he or she performs), but also someone who is Master-of-Quite-a-Few (i.e. a person who is well versed in his/her speciality and is also able to articulate it vis-a-vis the big picture), in order to address the myriad challenges of sustainability. -------------------------------------------------- MONTHLY STATISTICS FOR GDRC'S WEBSITE Total hits encountered - 1,289,633 Total files downloaded - 1,078,201 Total pages viewed - 399,507 Total web visitors - 183,060 Total KBytes - 15,007,872 Pages per day - Avg: 13,316 Max: 18,555 Visits per day - Avg: 6,10 2Max: 7,951 -------------------------------------------------- See what new items have been added to GDRC's website: http://www.gdrc.org/about/whats-new.html -------------------------------------------------- ABOUT GDRC MOSAIC The "GDRC Mosaic" is a monthly email newsletter that provides information bites, and summarizes programme activities of GDRC, including new items added to the website.
